PARTNERS IN PERFORMANCE

We’re here to help you overcome pain, build strength, and reach new heights—because pain shouldn’t hold you back from performing your absolute best.

Did I Deliver the Ranch?

If your favorite part of PT school was the science, but your favorite part of life is serving others, we need to talk. We aren't looking for a "staff therapist" to fill a slot. We are looking for a teammate who understands that a Physical Therapist is a teacher, a guide, and a hospitality professional rolled into one. If you’ve ever worked in the service industry and took pride in the "perfect shift," you’re our kind of person.

Come Work With Us

Physical Therapist and Performance Resident

The Obstacle Doc is a high-performance, cash-pay clinic in Durham. We are owner-operated and growth-obsessed. In June 2026, we are moving into a custom-built facility to better serve our community of athletes and high-performers. We operate on the principle of Kokoro—treating the heart. We don't do "rehab as usual."

What to Expect:

  • Daily: You will lead 6-8 high-impact, 1-on-1 sessions. You will spend your time teaching patients about their bodies, not just clicking boxes in an EMR.
  • Weekly: You will sit down with Daniela and Christopher for "Table Time"—dedicated mentorship to sharpen your manual skills and clinical reasoning.
  • Monthly: You will engage in community outreach, teaching workshops at local gyms.
  • Annually: You will check off milestones on your Clinical Ladder, attending Maitland and Dry Needling courses on our dime.

What You Need to be Successful:

  • The "Give a Shit Factor": You care about the details. You follow up. You remember the patient's dog's name.
  • A Background in Service: Whether it was waiting tables, bartending, or retail—you know how to make someone feel taken care of.
  • A Teacher’s Heart: You don't just "do" PT; you explain the why so the patient becomes their own best advocate.
  • Curiosity: What have you chosen to learn lately? We want people who read, listen to podcasts, and ask "why" until they find the root cause.

What You Get:

  • Day 1 Starting Salary: $65,000 – $68,000 with no double booking, seeing max 23 patients a week.
  • Performance Bonuses: Business requires stability, and performance requires acknowledgement. Quarterly bonuses can pull your salary up to $87,000 if you see more than 24 patients weekly.
  • The Environment: A brand-new, state-of-the-art facility and a team that actually likes each other [we love working together, we just happen to be married too]
  • The Clinical Ladder (Our $15k+ Investment in YOU):
    • Years 1-2: Maitland MT-1 & MT-2 + Dry Needling Level 1.
    • Years 3-4: CSCS Certification + Maitland MT-FMC.
    • Year 5+: Pathway to COMT or OCS Testing.

Next Steps:

  • We value your time. Here is what happens.
    1. The Intro Call (Virtual 25 min): You meet with Daniela to chat about your goals and our vibe.
    2. Maggie Meter (30 min): Our awesome clinical coordinator, the person who interacts with all our patients, gets to learn who you are.
    3. Clinical Meeting:  Meet with Christopher and Daniela at the clinic to learn more about the company, and so they can learn about your mindset.
    4. The "Deep Dive" Interview: You come to the clinic, shadow two patients, do a case study review and mock evaluation.
    5. The Decision: Within 72 hours of your deep dive interview, we will either make an offer or tell you why it’s not a fit.
    6. The Start: We are looking for a Summer 2026 start date to align with our new building opening.

The second should be you teaching us something - your favorite exercise, your best GOT theory, or anything you enjoyed learning recently. Please include three references in the email; the first reference should be clinical, the second should be professional, and the third can be either.
